Derek is a licensed real estate sales professional with Royal LePage Commercial and has been working in the seniors’ housing and real estate industries for twenty-seven years. A graduate of Wilfrid Laurier’s Honours Bachelor of Business Administration program, he founded Care Planning Partners in 1994, which soon became a preeminent source of market intelligence and consulting services within Canada’s growing seniors’ housing sector.

Derek also launched The Care Guide and CareConnect which helped families throughout Canada navigate the seniors’ housing decision-making process. During this time, he served as an elected member of the Ontario Retirement Communities Association’s Board of Directors and chaired its Commercial Members' Committee for six years.

Derek became a licensed real estate professional in 2013 and co-founded Bloomr Commercial Real Estate to specialize in the development, acquisition and disposition of senior living assets and development lands in Ontario.
